Aaron Rodgers’ Potential Vice Presidential Run: New York Jets in the Dark
March 16, 2024
Recently, there have been rumors circulating about Aaron Rodgers potentially running for Vice President of the United States. However, the New York Jets, his current team, are reportedly unaware of any such plans. According to a report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Jets “currently don’t believe” that Rodgers will be joining the presidential ticket for the upcoming election in November.
Florio mentioned that as of last Friday, the Jets had not been in contact with Rodgers regarding his political aspirations. It seems that Rodgers has not disclosed any information about his intentions to the team at this time.
In a surprising turn of events, Rebecca Davis O’Brien of The New York Times revealed that Rodgers and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura are being considered as potential candidates to run alongside Robert Kennedy Jr. on an independent ticket. Kennedy himself confirmed that he has been in regular communication with Rodgers for the past month, and both Rodgers and Ventura have shown interest in the possibility of becoming a vice presidential candidate.
It’s worth noting that Rodgers has been vocal about his views on vaccines and has expressed conspiracy theories in the past. Following reports by CNN’s Pamela Brown about Rodgers allegedly sharing Sandy Hook conspiracy theories in private conversations, he publicly stated that he acknowledges the tragic events that took place at Sandy Hook and does not deny their occurrence.
Kennedy plans to announce his running mate on March 26 in Oakland, California, a city not far from Rodgers’ hometown of Chico. Despite the potential opportunity to pursue a political career, it would be challenging for Rodgers to balance his football commitments with a vice-presidential campaign. According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, juggling both roles during the fall leading up to the election would be exceedingly difficult.
As far as football is concerned, Rodgers seems focused on the upcoming season with the Jets. He has expressed his excitement for the future and has not shown any indication of straying from his commitment to the team. The Jets’ front office also appears unconcerned, as they have not made any significant moves in free agency that suggest they anticipate Rodgers’ departure.
Overall, while the possibility of Aaron Rodgers entering the political arena is intriguing, it seems that his current focus remains on his football career with the New York Jets. Only time will tell if he decides to pursue a new path in politics or continue his legacy on the football field.
