The Copenhagen Major Excitement Builds

As we approach the 2024 Copenhagen Major, the first-ever CS2 Major, the anticipation among Counter-Strike professionals is palpable. This groundbreaking event holds immense importance, with participation seen as a major achievement.

Former Astralis Member Cleared to Compete

Adding to the thrill of the upcoming tournament, a former Astralis member has had his ESIC ban overturned, allowing him to compete on his home turf at the Copenhagen Major.

His name is Peter “casle” Ardenskjold, and he had been handed a five-Major ban in 2020 for exploiting a coaching bug. After missing out on four Majors, he has finally received some good news. ESIC accepted his appeal for a reduced sentence, clearing the way for the 37-year-old to participate in the upcoming major event.

ECSTATIC Welcomes casle Back

Recently, casle has been assisting ECSTATIC as an analyst, stepping in as a coach for the second IEM Dallas European open qualifier. Thomas Sinding, the co-owner of the organization, officially announced on the GLHF podcast that casle’s ban has been lifted, allowing him to join ECSTATIC in the Major.

Speaking in an interview with Dust2.dk, casle expressed his thoughts on ECSTATIC, stating, “They are a team with great potential and a heart in the right place. Whether my participation will be permanent remains to be seen.”

ECSTATIC: The Home Nation’s Hope

With heavyweights Astralis failing to qualify for the Major, ECSTATIC will be the sole representative of the home nation in the tournament. The team, featuring players new to S-tier events, brings a fresh and inexperienced dynamic to the competition.
