Leclerc confident in Ferrari’s progress
Ferrari has had a strong start to the season with two podium finishes, one for Carlos Sainz in Bahrain and one for Charles Leclerc in Jeddah. Leclerc believes that the team is on track to challenge Red Bull before the end of the season.
According to Leclerc, ”The race was positive. I think we are making small steps in the right direction. If I look at the past six or seven months, we are the team that has improved the most and we are slowly closing the gap.”
Although the gap is still significant, Leclerc is optimistic about Ferrari’s potential to apply more pressure on Red Bull in the near future. He remains cautious ahead of the Australian GP, stating, “I don’t think we will have many new developments in Melbourne, so without new upgrades in Melbourne, I believe we are doing a good job maximizing our package at the moment.”
Leclerc emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement, saying, “We will probably have to wait and see when we have new parts on the car, what kind of progress we will make. And I hope that will bring us closer to Red Bull.”
With Ferrari’s recent performance gains, Leclerc is confident in the team’s ability to catch up to Red Bull. He explains, “Three or four tenths is a lot in the world of motorsport. However, when you look at each piece of the car, if you gain one hundredth of a second per piece, then you immediately make a difference.”
Leclerc acknowledges the uncertainty of Red Bull’s potential upgrades but remains positive about Ferrari’s progress, stating, “I am sure our time will come. I don’t know what Red Bull has up their sleeve in terms of improvements, but that will determine when we can match them.
