Police Launch Investigation After 20 Armed Robbers Raid Wicknell Chivayo’s In-Laws’ Farm and Steal USD74,100

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation after 20 armed robbers raided Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera, owned by the in-laws of prominent businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

The incident occurred in the early hours of March 18, 2025, at around 1:00 AM.

The suspects, armed with rifles, pistols, bolt-cutters, machetes, and iron bars, attacked the farm’s security personnel before assaulting family members and forcing their way into the main house.

Violent Break-In and Theft of Valuables

According to a statement released by the ZRP on X (formerly Twitter), the robbers cut through burglar screens and forced open doors to gain entry into the family home.

Once inside, they stole USD74,100 in cash, a pistol, and several high-value items, including Samsung S24, S23, and Galaxy A35 smartphones.

The suspects fled the scene before authorities could respond, leaving the family shaken but unharmed.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

The ZRP has appealed to the public for information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the 20 suspects.

In their statement, the police urged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.

ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENT AT ALPHA OMEGA FARM, MARONDERA
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating an incident of armed robbery which occurred at Alpha Omega Farm, Marondera on 18th March 2025 at 0100 hours. 20 suspects who are yet to be identified and armed with rifles, pistols, bolt-cutters, machetes and iron bars attacked the farm security personnel.

The suspects went on to assault family members, cut burglar screens, and forced open doors. They then gained entry into the family house.
They took away USD74 100-00 cash, a pistol, Samsung S24, Samsung S23, Samsung Galaxy A35, among other valuables.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police appeals for information which may assist to identify and lead to the arrest of the 20 suspects.
