The Golden Globes made a triumphant return with a star-studded ceremony on Sunday (7 January) night.
The awards show, which takes place in Beverly Hills, has been marred by controversy in recent years following a 2021 Los Angeles Times investigation that revealed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the awards’ voting body) lacked diversity with no Black members.
However, this year’s Globes were back on track, with a glittering ceremony broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. A-list stars like Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kylie Jenner brought their star power to the show, injecting much-needed energy and excitement.
Oppenheimer, Barbie, Poor Things and Anatomy of a Fall were among the films that took home multiple awards. Christopher Nolan finally clinched a Globe after six nominations, and the Movie Musical/Comedy category saw an upset with Poor Things beating out Barbie for the Best Picture win.
In the TV categories, Beef, The Bear and Succession emerged as the big winners.
