Unveiling the Origami-inspired Adventure Game Paper Trail Launching May 21

Paper Trail has announced its official release date after facing several delays. The puzzle game that allows players to manipulate and fold the world around them is set to launch on May 21.

Created and published by the UK-based game developer Newfangled Games, Paper Trail combines visually appealing art with a unique folding feature that enables players to manipulate their surroundings, creating new paths and solving puzzles. According to the game’s description on Steam, players will “Alter the fabric of your world, contorting, spinning, rotating, twisting around — as you try to untangle the puzzle of the Paper Trail.”

The game’s artwork complements its innovative folding mechanic, taking inspiration from flat design styles such as printmaking and watercolor. Players take on the role of Paige, an 18-year-old dreamer with traditional parents, on her journey to University to pursue a career in astrophysics. Paper Trail is described as easy to understand but challenging to master, with increasing difficulty and complexity in the later stages.

Paper Trail will be accessible on various platforms including PC, consoles (PS5 / PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, and Switch), and the Netflix mobile app (iOS and Android) starting May 21. Players interested in the PC version can already add the game to their wishlist on Steam.
