Dominant No. 13 UConn Crushes St. John’s 92-49

NEW YORK (AP) — Paige Bueckers put on a show, scoring 22 points, and Ice Brady added a career-high 17 to propel No. 13 UConn to a dominant 92-49 victory against St. John’s on Saturday.

The Huskies (14-3, 6-0 Big East) showcased their firepower with five players scoring in double figures and a whopping 64.4% shooting percentage from the field.

The game was practically over in the second quarter when UConn unleashed a 13-0 run to take full control. Showing no mercy, the Huskies led 44-25 at the half, leaving St. John’s struggling to keep up.

UConn’s game-changing performance has seen them win their six conference games by an average of 36.0 points. The dominant display leaves little doubt about the Huskies’ position as a major force in college basketball.

St. John’s star player, Jailah Donald, put up a fight, scoring 11 points in an effort to spark her team’s comeback, but it was not enough to overcome the unyielding UConn.

INJURY BUG

UConn has been plagued by injuries, with four players out for the season, including Aubrey Griffin who suffered an ACL injury. The team has shown remarkable resilience despite the setbacks.

HONORING THE PAST

The upcoming game against Notre Dame on Jan. 27 will be a special occasion for UConn as they honor the 20-year anniversary of the 2003 and 2004 national championship-winning teams, alongside the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 and 2014 title-winning teams.
