Roda Osman flatly denied the reports that suggest she is on the run. She has been charged with felony theft by deception over the September brick incident.
Osman paid a visit to The Shade Room on Thursday and spoke against the accusations made by KPRC reporter Bryce Newberry. She rejected the allegations that she failed to show up to police in Houston over her charge.
Roda Osman Denies Being On The Run Over Theft, Deception Charge
Newberry labeled Osman as “brick lady” and said she was planning to surrender to the police by 3:45 PM with the help of a local Black Panther Party chapter. He said she had a meeting scheduled with them before her anticipated surrender. But Osman never turned up.
Osman, in response to Newberry, revealed that she has yet to find a lawyer to represent her for the case. She asserted that she should be referred to by her name, Roda, instead of “brick lady,” and that she is actually the victim here, not the criminal. She vehemently denied causing harm to anyone.
“My name is not brick lady,” she said in response to Newberry’s video. “The abuse never stops. My name is Roda and I am the victim. I was harmed. I never harmed anyone.”
She also drew attention to the fact that she was a victim of an assault, despite being held accountable for every detail of the incident.
Osman strongly implied that her scrutiny is due to her being Black.
“If you get hit over the head, remember every detail or felony. Well only if you’re a dark-skinned woman,” she continued. “This is disgusting.”
Roda Is Still Seeking Legal Representation
Osman also refuted claims of her refusal to surrender. She pointed out that she had not yet found a proper lawyer to represent her during her surrender.
“I’m not on the run. Everyone is trying to extort me for money. I am trying to find a proper lawyer to surrender with. I look forward to my day in court to fight these bullsh** claims and retribution from Officer Thorton for reporting her for misconduct. Again, I look forward to my day in court!”
It was reported by The Shade Room that Houston police have levelled accusations of deception and falsification against Osman. Investigators have raised doubts regarding the truthfulness of Osman’s story about being hit with a brick.
Surveillance footage from the night of the incident revealed Osman, a friend, Douglas, and another man at a lounge. An argument broke out when they entered a Maserati about 20 minutes later, according to Click 2 Houston.
