Winning the Dakar Rally is every driver’s dream, but only a few can achieve it. It takes quality, luck, and a great team, like Toyota, who, with Nasser Al Attiyah, has won three Touareg trophies in the last six editions.
Now, the Japanese manufacturer has called on Lucas Moraes, a Brazilian who made an impressive debut in the toughest race on the planet by finishing third. “It’s an honor to represent Toyota Gazoo Racing. Nasser’s shoes are big to fill, but I’ll do my best,” said the new Toyota driver after winning his first stage during the 2024 edition.
When talks of joining the team began, Moraes said, “It was a dream come true to get the call from Alain [Dujardyn, Toyota director].” Representing his country has been an honor for Moraes, who received a lot of messages after winning the third stage at Dakar.
Guiding Moraes is co-driver Armand Monleon, who brings a lot of experience and technical expertise. Additionally, Moraes is proudly sponsored by Sparco, featuring their new Future line of gloves, overalls, and boots.
