Chris Collins’ ejection during Northwestern’s 105-96 overtime loss to No. 2 Purdue made for an intense ending in West Lafayette.
Collins’ dramatic exit included running onto the court, getting in the ref’s face and shouting as he was escorted out. Still, the coach stopped to shake hands with Purdue’s coach and players before exiting the court.
Purdue’s victory can’t be denied, outscoring Northwestern by nine in overtime and racking up 46 free throws, compared to Northwestern’s eight. Edey was the standout star of the night, leading his team to victory with 30 points and 15 rebounds.
To make matters worse, the poor discrepancy in free throws extended throughout the game. Collins pointed out the disparity, expressing his disbelief at the situation.
With six straight wins under their belt, Purdue is closing in on another victory. Collins and his team, now 15-6, will prepare to face Minnesota next Saturday.
