LOVERBOY Makes a Comeback with the Unveiling of “LIVE IN ´82” – A Newly Restored Live Performance

Exciting News: Loverboy to Release Restored Live Show from 1982

Loverboy, the Canadian group, is set to release a previously unreleased live show with fully restored and remixed sound and visuals through earMUSIC.

The journey of Loverboy is a true underdog story that rivals a Hollywood movie. Overcoming rejection to eventually become one of the most successful Canadian rock bands of all time, selling millions of albums in the process, is a feel-good story that will stand the test of time.

“Live In ’82” has been meticulously restored by Paul Dean from his personal 16mm film archive, capturing the joyful energy of a band that helped define the golden age of 80s music. With their infectious music, colorful outfits, extravagant hairstyles (headbands galore!), and iconic soundtracks for movies like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and ‘Top Gun’, Loverboy has stood the test of time.

The release of “Live In ‘82” will be available on limited CD+Blu-ray, LP+DVD, and digital streaming and download platforms on June 7th. The announcement coincides with the release of the first live single, ‘Turn Me Loose’, available as a digital single and live video.

For over 40 years, Loverboy has been putting in the work, delighting audiences worldwide since their formation in 1979 when vocalist Mike Reno met guitarist Paul Dean, both veterans of various Canadian bands, at the Refinery Night Club in Calgary. Alongside Reno and Dean, Loverboy still includes original members Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve stepping in for the late Scott Smith on bass.

Known for their signature red leather pants, scarves, rocking sound, and high-energy live performances, the band has sold over 10 million albums and garnered multiple platinum awards. Their string of hits includes classics like ‘Working For The Weekend’, ‘The Kid Is Hot Tonight’, ‘Take Me To The Top’, ‘Turn Me Loose’, ‘Jump’, and more. Loverboy not only excel as songwriters but are also renowned for their stellar live performances, touring extensively alongside acts like Def Leppard and Journey.

In 2009, the group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and more recently, the Canadian Walk of Fame in the fall of 2023.

The band shows no signs of slowing down this year as they embark on a North American tour promoted by Live Nation in support of Sammy Hagar.

Stay tuned for more updates on Loverboy’s upcoming releases and tour dates!
