Examining the TEA project’s approach reveals a purported aim to assist open source developers through the utilization of blockchain technology, with a promise of rewarding more popular projects. However, what seems to be occurring is a surge of individuals hastily adding a certain file to establish their blockchain wallet as the “code owner” of the well-known Ghost project, despite not being regular contributors.
Rather than providing genuine support to the Ghost project, the TEA project appears to be inadvertently encouraging a flood of self-serving pull requests, exploiting the efforts of others for personal gain.
The lack of clarity surrounding the purpose of the “codeOwners” field within TEA raises questions. Despite claiming to advocate for open source, the project’s documentation fails to provide straightforward information on this file format. While a link within the file suggests an explanation, it merely leads to a vague description of the project’s crypto capabilities, rather than clarifying the function of the YAML format.
It is instances like these that contribute to the negative perception of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in general.
