Logitech has a rich history in the webcam industry, predating the surge in demand during the pandemic. Despite this, their cameras never made it to the flagship productivity range alongside products like the MX Master 3S and MX Mechanical. This changes with the introduction of the $200 MX Brio, boasting a new sensor for improved image quality, upgraded microphones, and a unique hinge feature ideal for presentations.

Before delving into the camera’s performance in photography and videography, the MX Brio stands out with a more premium design compared to its predecessor from 2017. Available in silver, gray, and black variants, it features an aluminum build instead of the previous plastic iteration. One standout detail is the built-in shutter that can be opened and closed by rotating the ring on the front, eliminating the need for a separate lens cap.

The MX Brio includes a clip for simple mounting on a laptop or monitor. For a more professional setup using a tripod, the clip detaches magnetically to reveal a hidden 1/4-inch thread. The standout feature of the clip is its additional hinge that allows tilting the camera into Show Mode. This mode automatically adjusts the field of view for a top-down perspective, perfect for showcasing products or sharing notes without the need for extra camera equipment.

This feature simplifies sharing presentations or product demos without complex setup adjustments or additional cameras. This functionality has been desired for various scenarios, such as during live streaming of the Engadget Podcast. However, constraints such as limited workspace prevented such setups involving overhead camera arms.

The MX Brio utilizes a Sony Starvis sensor, supporting recording at up to 4K/30fps with improved dynamic range and low-light performance. A comparison with its predecessor highlighted a significant difference in image quality. Even using the basic Windows Camera app, the new model produced more vibrant and accurate images. Additionally, the camera efficiently handled bright backlighting scenarios that previously resulted in dark facial appearances. Compatibility with major video conferencing apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet ensures enhanced visuals during virtual meetings.
