Warriors made a cunning move by picking Jackson-Davis as the No. 57 overall selection in the second round of last year’s draft, proving to be a steal under the leadership of first-year general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.

In a recent interview with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs,” Jackson-Davis reflected on his draft night ordeal and how fate led him to the Warriors. The forward shared that his agent, James Dunleavy, who is also Mike’s brother, believed Golden State was the perfect fit for Jackson-Davis. Despite having significant interest from three to four other teams within picks 20 and 40, James insisted they wait for the Warriors to make an offer for a main roster spot.

Feeling frustrated after being bypassed by a number of teams that initially showed keen interest in him, Jackson-Davis took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to post a now-viral message following his success with the Warriors. The cryptic post read, “Y’all will regret it… I promise you.”

Jackson-Davis revealed his emotions during the draft night rollercoaster, stating that around pick 35, the Warriors were actively looking to secure another pick, unbeknownst to him at the time. The disappointment culminated by pick 50 led him to post the tweet, expressing his discontent. However, once Golden State secured him at pick 57, everything fell into place. Reflecting on the post, Jackson-Davis clarified that it wasn’t aimed at any specific team like the Pacers, his hometown team, but rather at the teams that overlooked him despite expressing strong interest.

The viral post served as a candid expression of Jackson-Davis’s frustration towards the teams that had shown admiration for him during the draft process but ultimately passed on him. It was a testament to his determination and motivation to prove them wrong.

In conclusion, Jackson-Davis’s journey to the Warriors might have been tumultuous, but it ultimately led to a mutually beneficial partnership that has already begun to pay dividends.
