Sandhagen Responds to Nurmagomedov’s Challenge
After his recent victory over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Vegas 87, Umar Nurmagomedov called for a rematch with Cory Sandhagen, who had previously defeated Rob Font. This rematch was initially scheduled for UFC Nashville but was canceled due to Nurmagomedov’s injury. Now, Sandhagen is ready to face Nurmagomedov at UFC 303 on June 29, during the UFC’s International Fight Week.
A Bold Acceptance
In a bold response to Nurmagomedov’s callout, Sandhagen took to Twitter during UFC 299, stating, “You want to call for higher opponents and choose your date? Come on, Umar. International Fight Week against me, brother.” This shows Sandhagen’s eagerness to face Nurmagomedov in the octagon.
Sandhagen’s Impressive Streak
Since his loss to Petr Yan at UFC 267 in October 2021, where he missed out on becoming interim champion, Sandhagen has bounced back with three consecutive wins. These victories include a stoppage win over Song Yadong and a dominant decision win over Marlon Vera in main event bouts.
Nurmagomedov’s Undefeated Record
On the other hand, Umar Nurmagomedov boasts an impressive undefeated record of 17 wins, with a flawless 5-0 start in the UFC. His skill and determination make him a worthy opponent for Sandhagen in their upcoming matchup at UFC 303.
