Exciting News! During a ceremony in Washington on November 30th, Angola officially became the 33rd country to sign the Artemis Accords.

The Artemis Accords are a practical set of principles designed to guide space exploration cooperation among nations, including those involved in NASA’s Artemis program.

Established in 2020, the Artemis Accords were created by NASA and the U.S. Department of State together with seven other original signatories. Since then, the Accords signatories have engaged in focused discussions on how best to implement these principles.

By reinforcing and implementing key obligations in the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, the Artemis Accords also strengthen the commitment to the Registration Convention, the Rescue and Return Agreement, and best practices and norms of responsible behavior. This includes the public release of scientific data, which NASA and its partners have long supported.

With more countries expected to sign the Artemis Accords in the coming months and years, NASA continues to work with international partners to establish a safe, peaceful, and prosperous future in space. The addition of new and existing partners brings new energy and capabilities to ensure that the entire world can benefit from our journey of exploration and discovery.
