This viral iPhone photo shows a bride with two different reflections that almost seems Photoshopped. Comedian Tessa Coates shared this wild image on Instagram and claimed it wasn’t edited or altered in any way. She’s trying on a bridal gown in front of two mirrors and the photo captured her in three separate poses at the same time. One reflection shows her standing with one arm at her side and one arm across her waist, another reflection shows her with both arms at her side, and the third reflection shows her with her hands clasped in front her.
Coates, a host of the podcast “Nobody Panic,” described the shot as a “glitch in the matrix” that made her “nearly vomit in the street.” But don’t worry, the explanation is likely less worrisome than it seems. Faruk Korkmaz of the iPhonedo YouTube channel explained that the image is likely a perfect mistake of a panoramic photo, even though Coates claims it wasn’t taken in Pano mode.
It turns out, the panoramic system of the iPhone 12 treated her moving arms as separate people and expertly stitched them together as if it were three people standing together, likely because the image was taken with incorrect settings. This photo joins thousands of pictures in the #panoramafail hashtag on Instagram, showcasing glitchy panorama shots taken on iPhone and Android phones. Images of people can go very wrong at times when captured in panoramic mode.
So resume reality as you know it. There’s probably nothing unusual about this iPhone glitch photo after all.
