An Alabama police officer has been placed on administrative leave after using a stun gun on a handcuffed man. According to WVTM, the incident occurred on December 2 during a traffic stop.
Incident During Traffic Stop
A viral video has surfaced showing an unidentified female police officer engaged in a traffic stop with Micah Washington. Jalexis Rice, Washington’s girlfriend, explained that the incident unfolded while Washington and “two others” were changing a tire. The video shows the officer lifting Washington from the ground and frisking him.
She then tased Washington in the back, causing him to cry in pain as she ordered him to “Shut the f**k up.”
Legal Actions Taken
Washington was arrested and charged with several offenses including drug trafficking, fentanyl trafficking, and possessing a firearm as an ex-felon. He is currently being held in Pickens County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Reform Police Chief Richard Black and Mayor Melody Davis released a statement confirming that the department is investigating the incident and that the officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.
