Jewish General Hospital in Montreal faced a significant challenge with managing patient data. Despite having an abundance of data, the process of extracting valuable insights for improved patient care was complex and time-consuming.
THE PROBLEM
The hospital and its parent health system, CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, have a large number of staff members who rely on data. This includes operational teams, clinical teams, and researchers. Dr. Justin Cross, chief digital health officer at Jewish General Hospital, emphasized the constant need for data and the challenges in accessing the diverse data sources present in the ecosystem.
The process of accessing data required technical skills that many end users didn’t possess, leading to delays in obtaining the necessary information.
PROPOSAL
To address this issue, the hospital turned to the Adamas platform from health IT vendor MDClone. This platform offered a solution to empower anyone within the institution to ask questions and receive results, regardless of their technical expertise.
Dr. Cross highlighted the importance of leveraging different perspectives to improve the quality of services and facilitate quick access to valuable insights. The goal was to democratize data access and analytics, enabling frontline staff and researchers to make real-time decisions based on the information available to them.
