The EU just announced new sanctions against Iranians and Iranian companies, accusing them of being involved in the development and production of drones used by Russia in the Ukraine war. This comes after Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence identified a piece of a drone used by Russia as being of Iranian origin. The sanctions target six Iranians and five companies, marking the first listings under the EU’s new punitive measures framework established in July. These latest sanctions are a response to Iran’s collaboration with Russia in its ongoing aggression. The companies hit with sanctions include Shakad Sanat Asmari, the Baharestan Kish Company, Saad Sazeh Faraz Sharif, the Sarmad Electronic Sepahan Company, and the Kimia Part Sivan Company. Those subjected to asset freezes and travel bans include senior executives and board members of these companies. The EU has accused these individuals and companies of aiding Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Force with its unmanned aerial vehicle program.
