In the video, Ritchson shares how the Bible is full of stories about imperfect people and that he feels comfortable playing such characters, as reported by Deseret News.
He points out how God often tells his story through less than morally ambiguous characters, and even through pure evil sometimes. He believes that through these portrayals, important conversations can be started and meaningful connections can be made.
Ritchson, who is a professing Christian himself, reminds critics that the Bible is full of characters who were anything but perfect, according to a report by Faithwire.
He also addresses the misconceptions that only saintly characters should exist in television, stressing the importance of telling diverse stories that resonate with a wide audience.
Aside from his role in Reacher, Ritchson has appeared in several films and will also star in the upcoming faith-based film Ordinary Angels alongside actress Hilary Swank.
It is clear that Ritchson has a passion for storytelling, and he’s not afraid to engage with controversial characters in a way that sparks important conversations and touches people’s lives.
