Peppino D’Agostino has spent decades pushing the boundaries of what the acoustic guitar can achieve as a concert instrument. He’s not limited to the folk, blues, and country sounds associated with the steel-string guitar; he also draws on the traditions of Italy, Spain, and Brazil to create a truly global sound.
Despite his innovative use of unorthodox tunings and extended techniques, D’Agostino’s music is always focused on melody rather than flashy fingerboard acrobatics. It’s this commitment to crafting beautiful compositions that sets him apart from other fingerstyle guitarists.
Originally from Italy, D’Agostino got his start as a street musician and restaurant guitarist in San Francisco before making a name for himself on the international stage. Based in the Bay Area, he tours the world with his signature Seagull guitar and has collaborated with artists from a wide range of genres, proving that his music has something to offer every kind of listener.
Aside from his performing career, D’Agostino is also a dedicated teacher, sharing his passion and expertise with students across the globe. He and his wife Donna organize Music World Retreats, which provides learning experiences for guitarists and other instrumentalists in stunning locations in the U.S. and Europe.
