Shocking Incident: Nigerian Police Force in Lagos Identify Officers in Mufti Demanding Tinted Glass From Motorist
After a viral video, the AIG Zone 2 Lagos is investigating the matter and the PPRO Zone 2, Lagos will address the issue soon.
Since 2021, the permit for tinted glasses has been suspended, so it’s unacceptable for officers on patrol duty to request it from motorists.
Following the video, the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Lagos State Police Command, has located and identified the plainclothes officers involved in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
The driver responded to the officers’ request by pointing out that the police canceled the need for a tinted permit two years ago.
In response to the video, Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated, “These policemen have been traced to Zone 2 and identified. The AIG Zone 2 Lagos is investigating. While the PPRO Zone 2, Lagos will speak to it as soon as possible.”
“As noted by the car driver, the permit for tinted glasses has been suspended since June 2021, so police officers of patrol duty are not expected to demand for it from motorists,” Adejobi confirmed on his Twitter handle in 2022.
It’s clear that no police officer should be requesting custom papers or delaying motorists for not having tinted glass permits. We have suspended the issuance of tinted glass permits, so there should be no reason for our officers to trouble Nigerians over this,” added Adejobi.
