Wendy Williams’ conservator is taking legal action against the parent company of Lifetime, A&E Network, in an effort to halt the release of her upcoming documentary, ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’
Scheduled for release on February 24, the two-part special delves into Williams’ tumultuous journey since departing from her talk show in 2021. Sabrina Morrissey, serving as Williams’ temporary guardian, submitted a motion on February 22, with the specifics of the lawsuit kept confidential under seal.
While the nature of the legal dispute remains undisclosed, it is speculated to be linked to the documentary’s release. Morrissey has requested a temporary restraining order to block the airing of the project, a common tactic to prevent the distribution of films, music, or television shows.
Despite the approaching court date next week, the docuseries is set to premiere. If the judge rules in favor of Morrissey, she could receive injunctive relief from the network. The documentary uncovers Williams’ battles with substance abuse, her turbulent marriage, and her well-publicized health struggles.
The documentary also sheds light on Wendy’s conservatorship, established by the court in 2022. Her family expresses concern over limited access to her, as they rely on her initiating communication due to restrictions on direct contact. This lack of interaction has left loved ones fearing the worst and unsure of her whereabouts.
Additionally, the film explores Williams’ personal challenges, including alcoholism and financial difficulties following her talk show exit. In the documentary, Williams alleges that her guardian has misappropriated funds in the past.
As the release date approaches, questions surrounding Wendy Williams’ well-being continue to linger, fueling speculation and concern within her inner circle.
