The Triumph of Milala in the Set 10 Remix Rumble World Championship
The recent Set 10 Remix Rumble World Championship brought together the top Teamfight Tactics players from across the world, culminating in Milala from North America securing the prestigious Worlds title.
The North American TFT community had been eagerly awaiting a second Worlds victory since Rereplay’s win at the Monsters Attack World Championship. As the Remix Rumble World Championship unfolded, optimism grew among fans as both Milala and Degree made their way to the top eight, alongside Skipaeus from EMEA and ICE from China, who had been dominating the competition. The final showdown consisted of five intense games played in a Checkmate format, ultimately resulting in Milala emerging as the champion, making history by winning two consecutive major TFT global titles.
Milala’s incredible journey to victory began at the TFT Vegas Open, a LAN event that saw over 500 players from around the world competing shortly after the launch of Set 10. Throughout the three-month-long Remix Rumble set, which underwent significant changes, Milala maintained his exceptional performance, clinching the top spot in the K/DA Cup and securing second place at the Regional Finals.
As the competition progressed, North America showcased its strength in the early stages of the Remix Rumble World Championship, alongside formidable players from China and EMEA. Following 12 rounds of intense gameplay, the field was narrowed down to eight players, who battled it out in a Checkmate format with a threshold of 20 on the third day. Milala, Riyue from China, and Skipaeus from EMEA were the only contenders who managed to surpass this threshold after four games, setting the stage for a thrilling final showdown.
During a pivotal moment in the competition, Milala implemented a strategic Heartsteel opening line, utilizing loss streaks to his advantage. Despite moments of doubt, especially concerning the viability of the best trait in TFT Set 10, Milala’s perseverance paid off as he steadily progressed towards victory. By Stage 5-5, his path to success became even clearer, ultimately culminating in a remarkable 6-1 finish and solidifying his status as the first player in TFT history to secure back-to-back major titles.
