The inspiration for this particular line can be traced back to an old Tumblr post that reads “Yes I’m a gatekeeper and a hater. I’m also God’s Favorite Princess and the most interesting girl in the world.” Initially, the line wasn’t directly linked to Baldur’s Gate 3 until it was paired with an image of Shadowheart by user mister lou. The pairing was so perfect that fans and the character became inseparable.
The world of Dungeons & Dragons is all about creativity and personal stories, which translates into the rich world of Baldur’s Gate 3. The game’s diverse characters and massive fanbase have caught the attention of the voice actors, including Jennifer English, the voice of Shadowheart. In a video from Aug. 20, 2023, English performed the line, which fans and English’s partner considered “perfect.”
The line was also referenced by English in a D&D campaign presented by High Rollers DnD on Sep. 22, 2023, featuring the voice cast of Baldur’s Gate 3, where she introduces the character of Shadowheart as “God’s favorite princess.” It’s interesting to note that another meme from the High Roller’s campaign also made its way into Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest patch, much to the delight of fans.
