What an incredible week for Danish athlete Daniel Baekkegard, who just clinched his second Australian victory in a span of seven days. After his remarkable win at Challenge Canberra, he has now conquered Ironman Busselton with an astonishing time of 7:34:23!
Baekkegard’s performance was outstanding right from the start. Despite tough competition, he maintained his lead throughout the race, dominating the swim, bike, and run with sheer determination.
After a thrilling bike race that saw several contenders push the pace, including Sam Appleton, Steven McKenna, and Scott Steenberg, Baekkegard eventually surged ahead to claim the lead. Even with a strong challenge from Matt Burton on the run, Baekkegard’s impressive running speed secured his well-deserved win.
Clocking in at 7:34:23, Baekkegard’s victory was a testament to his unwavering strength and endurance. Matt Burton and Nick Thompson also showcased stellar performances, finishing second and third respectively in this thrilling Ironman event.
