UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday that he will join with French President Emmanuel Macron in recognizing “Palestine” as a state if Israel doesn’t agree to a ceasefire by September. Starmer, who’s known in the UK as “two-tier Keir” for the two-tier justice system implemented by his Labour government, called on Israel to take “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza” and to reach a ceasefire with Hamas … or else.
As RedState’s Bonchie reported just a few days ago, Macron announced that France will formally recognize a “Palestinian State” at the United Nations General Assembly that is scheduled for September. Bonchie concluded that the move would be equivalent to “rewarding the murderous terrorists who still control Gaza and the West Bank,” and noted Hamas responded by thanking Macron, with the terror organization gleefully adding that the new “state” would include all of Israel. In other words, thanks for getting radical Islamists that much closer to making the genocidal “from the river to the sea” threat a reality.

Not to be outdone by the diminutive Macron, the equally-diminutive Starmer—what does Europe have against tall men?—word-vomited some serious double talk, promising a two-state solution while also holding Israel alone responsible for making a ceasefire happen. A ceasefire that President Trump confirmed on Friday would not be happening because Hamas had walked away from negotiations.
Here’s Starmer:
“I have always said that we will recognize a Palestinian state as a contribution to a proper peace process at the moment of maximum impact for the two-state solution,” Starmer said in news briefing after a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
“I can confirm the UK will recognize the State of Palestine by the United Nations General Assembly in September, unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza, agree to a ceasefire and commit to a long-term sustainable peace reviving the prospect of a two-state solution.”

Israel, unsurprisingly, was having none of it and pushed back on Starmer, responding, “The shift in the British government’s position at this time, following the French move and internal political pressures, constitutes a reward for Hamas and harms efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and a framework for the release of hostages.”
