[Update] Radisson Hotel Group has taken a significant step towards its commitment to becoming Net Zero by 2050, with the launch of its first two Verified Net Zero hotels. The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre and the Radisson RED Oslo City Centre have successfully met the 2040 requirements of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, focusing on eliminating carbon emissions from energy, operations, and supply chains.
Net Zero actions and sustainable operations
Both hotels have implemented comprehensive sustainability measures to reduce their carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. These efforts include the use of 100% renewable energy sourced from local grids and the electrification of hotel functions such as heating, cooling, and cooking. The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, for example, has installed heat pumps and fully electrified its kitchen, eliminating gas usage. The Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, on the other hand, benefits from renewable electricity and district heating powered by waste treatment and data centers in Oslo.
“To introduce the Radisson brand to this vibrant and buzzing city is a very exciting moment. What’s more, we are immensely proud to achieve Verified Net Zero status, proving our dedication to delivering the pinnacle of sustainable hotel stays. Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre is more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination where guests can relax, rejuvenate and experience the best that Manchester has to offer with a minimal environmental impact.” – Jens Brandin, General Manager of Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel
In line with Radisson Hotel Group’s sustainability goals, the hotels have also adopted waste-reducing measures, including food waste management systems and the use of bulk bathroom amenities to reduce plastic waste. Furthermore, both properties focus on reducing the carbon impact of their food offerings by implementing low-carbon menus, with clear labels informing guests about the carbon footprint of dishes.
This achievement is having back its roots, as Radisson Hotel Group was the first company having an environmental policy dating back to the end of the last century.

Located near key attractions like the AO Arena and Manchester Victoria station, the hotel caters to both leisure and business travelers.
In addition to energy use, Radisson Hotel Group has partnered with Klimato to develop low-carbon menus for its Verified Net Zero properties. These menus focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, reducing carbon footprints by up to 40% without compromising on taste.
