Truck Driver Faces Charges for Texas Teen’s Tragic School Bus Exit Death

Dec. 9 (UPI) — A tragic incident occurred in Texas this week, when a truck driver allegedly struck and killed a 15-year-old boy as he was exiting a school bus near Houston. The driver, Gregory Jackson, 41, has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with the incident, authorities say.

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Friday that Jackson’s 18-wheeler truck struck a Toyota behind the Livingston School District bus while traveling north on U.S. Hwy. 59 near Livingston, Texas. Tragically, this resulted in the student being fatally struck. The victim, identified as Eduardo Romero Flores, was just 15 years old, and his family is understandably devastated.

The Livingston school district officials emphasized the preciousness and fragility of life in a statement following this tragedy. They are aching from the loss of their student, and the community is mourning alongside them.

Texas authorities have Jackson in custody at the Polk County Jail as the investigation continues.
