Alex Pereira is considering a jump to heavyweight, but he insists it has to be done the right way.
Following his loss of the middleweight title in April and a subsequent victory in his light heavyweight debut, the Brazilian fighter is now the promotion’s new light heavyweight champion and may be eyeing a move to heavyweight in the future.
Although speculation about Pereira fighting Tom Aspinall at UFC 300 has been circulating, the fighter has clarified that it’s not in the immediate plans.

“I can fight at heavyweight in the future, but I have to be well-planned. Right now, my focus is on my light heavyweight reign,” Pereira stated to TheMacLife.
He also addressed the status of the light heavyweight championship and the potential of Aspinall becoming the undisputed champion in the future.
“Jon Jones is still the champ. Unless something major happens that vacates the belt, Aspinall has to win another fight to become the undisputed champion,” Pereira said.
While the timing of Pereira’s return to the octagon is uncertain, one thing is clear – he won’t be fighting Aspinall next.
