American Jason West, who triumphed at this venue last year, was heavily favored to win the Miami T100 race. Despite a solid performance in the swim, West struggled on the bike and ultimately finished in seventh place, which was a disappointment considering his past success in the 100km distance.

Reflecting on his performance, West acknowledged that the bike leg was where he faltered, leading to his lower-than-expected finish. He mentioned his strong swim but emphasized the need to improve his cycling for future races, particularly with the aim of winning the world title.

West expressed his disappointment with his seventh-place finish after the race, stating, “I really struggled on the bike and ran decent enough to get myself up to a solid result in the end, but my goals are to be a lot further up than that.”

Looking ahead, West sees the upcoming tour race in Southeast Asia as an opportunity to bounce back from his Miami performance. With the event scheduled for April 13-14, West aims to improve on his previous podium finish in Singapore.
