The Atlanta Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith may be in hot water after Sunday’s 9-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers, according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, as “sentiments of dismay are rising” regarding Smith’s future. The loss amounted to the Panthers’ second win of the year and was a significant blow to Atlanta’s playoff chances.
Atlanta’s poor offensive performance against the Panthers was largely due to the inclement weather, but the Falcons’ highly regarded first-round pick, Bijan Robinson, had a disappointing game. With just seven carries for 11 yards and a fumble, things aren’t looking great for the team. The defending struggled for much of the contest, which only added to their woes.
The Falcons’ record now stands at 6-8, leaving them one game behind in the NFC South race. With the playoff race heating up, the Falcons will need to improve their performance if they hope to secure a spot.

Smith’s third season as Atlanta’s head coach has left much to be desired. With the team’s playoff hopes dwindling after two straight losses, the Falcons now face an uphill battle against the Indianapolis Colts.
Smith’s unimpressive performance as head coach has left the Falcons’ future uncertain. With the team currently considering veteran Taylor Heinicke in place of Ridder, the future remains uncertain for Smith in Atlanta.
If it works, the Falcons could make the playoffs. If it doesn’t, Smith could be out of a job.
