Founder of Binance, Zhao Changpeng, was denied a request to travel to the United Arab Emirates by a federal judge despite offering his Binance equity as security for his return. The equity was valued at $4.5 billion, and Zhao’s plea of guilt has kept him in the U.S. on a $175 million release bond. Although details of the medical procedure and the person’s name are redacted, Zhao’s request for travel was still denied, with the judge citing his significant flight risk due to his “enormous wealth” and lack of ties to the U.S. Zhao is set to be sentenced in February, with the outcome of the case eagerly awaited.
