The Day Before: A Disaster from the Start
Well, it looks like the supporters of The Day Before are in for a rude awakening. The game, which attracted half a million viewers on Steam after charging $40 for early access, is now being shut down completely just four days after its launch.
The recent announcement states that The Day Before “failed financially” and that the income generated is being used to settle debts. The game, which launched as an extraction shooter rather than a survival MMO, is so broken that the developers cannot afford to patch it.
While the servers for The Day Before are still operational, there have been over 4,400 concurrent players and a peak of 7,600 in the last 24 hours. However, these numbers are a far cry from the game’s all-time high of 38,000 concurrent players on Steam.
This entire situation has been a nightmare. The game promised in trailers simply does not exist, and the final product is riddled with glitches and issues. Players who paid $40 for the game are now left with a broken, unplayable mess. It’s unclear what the developers were doing for the past five years, but it’s evident that they have deceived and cheated their players. The studio has even gone as far as scrubbing their website and YouTube channel.
In a year filled with layoffs in the gaming industry, it’s disheartening to see a studio shut down. However, The Day Before’s situation is different. The game was essentially a scam, and the developers have left players high and dry. It’s evident that this project was doomed from the start.
