Wife Wears Blood Stained Pendant in Wake of Shooting

Erika Kirk is holding tight to a heartbreaking reminder of her late husband Charlie Kirk — the blood stained pendant he was wearing when he was gunned down less than two weeks ago.
In an interview with The New York Times, Erika revealed she now wears the small St. Michael icon that was ripped from Charlie’s body by medics as they fought to stop the bleeding at the Turning Point USA event in Utah. The tiny cross still carries traces of his blood in its crevice … a haunting memento of the moment America lost the conservative activist.
Erika said how the sheriff urged her not to view her husband’s body after the bullet pierced his neck but she insisted on saying goodbye. “With all due respect, I want to see what they did to my husband,” she said. At the hospital, she kissed him one final time, describing how his “semi-open eyes” and “Mona Lisa-like half-smile” looked as if “he’d died happy. Like Jesus rescued him. The bullet came, he blinked, and he was in heaven.”
Now left to pick up the pieces, the mother of two says her grief is overwhelming … admitting she can’t even enter her bedroom and rotates where she sleeps each night. She also confided she hasn’t washed the towels Charlie used in his final shower, unable to let go of even the smallest traces of his presence.
