The Rise of NASCAR Brazil
NASCAR Brazil made its mark in the racing world last year, joining the ranks of NASCAR’s international divisions with the introduction of the NASCAR Brazil Sprint Race. The inaugural season of this new series was met with great success, setting the stage for a promising future.
Brazilian Drivers Making Waves
As the U.S.-based NASCAR series gears up for their season openers at Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR Brazil drivers are not far behind. Some of these talented drivers will be present at both Daytona International Speedway and New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, where they will be competing in various races.
MCM Racing Development, a racing team based in Houston, Texas, is paving the way for Brazilian drivers to showcase their skills on American soil. Through races in Late Model and Pro Truck competitions at New Smyrna’s annual World Series of Asphalt, these drivers are seizing the opportunity to make their mark in the racing world.
Bridging the Gap
NASCAR is actively bridging the gap between Brazilian talent and the American racing scene. A delegation of Brazilian drivers and guests will be attending the prestigious Daytona 500 on February 18th for the second consecutive year. Following the Daytona 500, six of these drivers will participate in a test session at New Smyrna Speedway to further hone their skills.
“Our partnerships in Brazil have allowed us to bring top-tier talent to Daytona and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their potential,” said Chad Seigler, NASCAR’s vice president of chief international officer. The top three finishers in the NASCAR Brazil series points will also earn a chance to test their skills at Daytona, underscoring the strength of the Brazilian racing market.
Embracing Oval Racing
While Brazil currently lacks oval tracks, a staple of NASCAR’s U.S.-based series, efforts are being made to introduce Brazilian drivers to this unique style of racing. NASCAR Brazil’s races last season predominantly took place on road courses, with only one round at Goiânia featuring an oval layout. To prepare drivers for long-term success in NASCAR, test dates and development programs are being offered to help them acclimate to oval racing.
At MCM Racing, three Brazilian drivers – Diogo Moscato, Beto Monteiro, and Felipinho Tozzo – will be competing in various series at New Smyrna Speedway. Monteiro, with previous experience in the NASCAR K&N series, is eager to return to oval circuits and make his mark in the racing world once again.
NASCAR Brazil is not just a new addition to the racing landscape; it represents a bridge between Brazilian talent and the global stage of NASCAR. With a focus on development and integration, the future looks bright for Brazilian drivers pursuing their dreams in the world of NASCAR.
