Exciting Additions to the Cast of “The Last of Us” Season 2
March 1 (UPI) — HBO recently revealed the latest stars set to join the upcoming Season 2 of The Last of Us.
The network shared the news on Friday, unveiling that Danny Ramirez, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord will be part of the post-apocalyptic series.
Developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us is a TV adaptation of the popular video game franchise of the same title.
The storyline centers on Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey), two survivors navigating a world plagued by a zombie-like pandemic caused by a fungal infection.
A Diverse Set of Characters
This season, Ramirez, known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, will take on the character of Manny, described as “a loyal soldier with a cheerful disposition that conceals deep emotional scars and a fear of letting down his friends in their time of need.”
Barer, recognized from Runaways, will embody Mel, “a young physician who grapples with the harsh realities of wartime and tribal disputes while striving to save lives.”
Gabrielle, famed for her role in The 100, will play Nora, “a military medic confronting the repercussions of her past actions,” while Lord, featured in Heartland, will portray Owen, “a kind-hearted individual forced into a life of combat, refusing to harbor animosity towards his adversaries.”
New Faces in the Mix
Joining the roster are Isabela Merced as Dina, Ellie’s romantic interest; Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a skilled warrior; and Young Mazino as Jesse.
Production for The Last of Us Season 2 commenced in February, with the series expected to premiere in 2025.
