YouTube is shaking up the music industry with its latest venture: an AI-focused music incubator in collaboration with Universal Music and some groundbreaking artists. The program aims to explore generative AI experiments in music creation, aligning with YouTube’s investment in AI tech, including copyright protection tools.


Alphabet’s subsidiary, Google, has spearheaded this initiative with Universal Music on board as the inaugural partner. Noteworthy artists such as Anitta, ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus, and Max Ricther also contribute to this pioneering exploration.
Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, emphasized the importance of the incubator, stating, “The incubator will help inform YouTube’s approach as we work with some of music’s most innovative artists, songwriters, and producers across the industry.” Mohan also stressed the group’s role in shaping the program’s direction, stating, “The group ‘will help gather insights on generative AI experiments and research that are being developed at YouTube.”
