January 25, 2024, by Nadja Skopljak
Fugro welcomes a new Blue Essence vessel to its uncrewed surface vessel (USV) fleet, which has surpassed high UK coastguard standards and received the highest level of approval.

Introducing Fugro Vaquita; with a Category 0 approval from the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), the latest unmanned surface vessel joins the 12-meter Blue Essence USV fleet. The new addition extends service further offshore, enhancing safety and environmental performance. It boasts the highest level of autonomy, operating fully remotely and with unrestricted access.
Developed by SEA-KIT in partnership with Fugro, the Fugro Vaquita is the second of the Blue Essence USV fleet to operate in European waters. In 2023, Fugro Orca completed numerous projects including asset integrity and seabed surveys.
