Amid a period of silence from OpenAI, Anthropic’s rival has made waves with the launch of its new Claude 3 family of large language models (LLMs). However, another player in the field, Deci, has recently made significant strides in generative AI.

In the fall of 2023, Deci introduced its DeciDiffusion and DeciLM 6B open source models, which are faster and less resource-intensive variants of Stability’s Stable Diffusion 1.5 and Meta’s LLaMA 2 7B, both also open source. Since then, Deci has rolled out DeciCoder, a code completion LLM, and DeciDiffusion 2.0.

Now, Deci has launched Deci-Nano, a smaller and less computationally intensive LLM, as part of their closed-source Gen AI Development Platform aimed at enterprises and developers. This move showcases Deci’s commitment to innovation and providing value to customers.

Deci’s VP of marketing, Rachel Salkin, emphasized their dedication to both the open source community and the development of optimized closed-source models for enhanced accuracy and speed. Salkin highlighted Deci’s recent open source releases, which have garnered significant interest and downloads.

The introduction of Deci-Nano signals a possible shift towards commercialization for Deci. This transition seems to be seamless as Deci-Nano offers rapid language understanding and reasoning capabilities, showcasing impressive performance on NVIDIA A100 GPUs.
