Known for its wide range of smartphones, Xiaomi is expanding its line of product categories to include e-readers. While some models may not be readily available outside of China, this new e-reader is currently being offered in the Chinese market.

This model is based on an E Ink Carta 1200 display with a pixel density of 300 DPI, promising high playback quality. The seven-inch display has a resolution of 1680 x 1240, with 32 levels of adjustable backlight intensity and customizable color temperature.

Weighing just 166 grams, the e-reader is equipped with alignment detection sensors and supports navigation via both the touchscreen and dedicated buttons. Running on Android 11, it features 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

Connectivity options include both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for wireless networks, along with Bluetooth 5.2 support. The reader’s 1200 mAh battery is said to last up to 40 hours on a single charge. A magnetic housing provides an additional 1950 mAh battery. The e-reader is currently available in China for around $200, with no information yet on a global release.

If you’re looking for an alternative, you could consider the Meebook E-Reader M7, available on Amazon.
