The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) pushed ahead with decisive attacks on the two main Hamas strongholds in Gaza City to the north and Khan Yunis to the south, resulting in some of the fiercest fighting of the war thus far.
The IDF has been carrying out operations in Hamas strongholds in the areas of Jabaliya, Shuja’iyya, and Khan Yunis, demolishing terrorist infrastructure and neutralizing Hamas terrorists.

In a briefing, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari stated:
We are on the sixtieth day of the war. IDF soldiers are currently engaging in combat in Khan Yunis, the Hamas stronghold in the southern Gaza Strip. The military wing of Hamas consists of two dominant regional brigades which function as the strongholds for the terrorist organization. These are the Gaza City Brigade and the Khan Yunis Brigade. Our forces are making progress in dismantling Hamas’ military capabilities. The four battalions of the Khan Yunis Brigade have established terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground throughout the area. The terrorists from Khan Yunis played a significant role in the terrorist attack on October 7th, where they infiltrated Israeli territory, committed a massacre, and returned to the heart of Khan Yunis. We are committed to eliminating the terrorists and destroying their infrastructure as we did in the Northern Gaza Strip.
As the battle in southern Gaza rages on, fighting also continues in the north. Our forces are involved in the strongholds in the heart of Jabalia and Shuja’iyya. Integrated attacks from land and air are being carried out in each of these strongholds, destroying underground infrastructure and eliminating numerous terrorists in face-to-face combat. We are also releasing videos from the field, documenting how we are encountering and neutralizing terrorists as we move within the area. This is our strategy for clearing the area, and this will also be done in Jabalia, Shuja’iyya, and Khan Yunis.
Since the beginning of the war, we have targeted over 20,000 sites across the Gaza Strip. Today, we are releasing special footage from a Hamas tunnel showing senior members of the Northern Brigade before the war. Most of the individuals in this photo have been eliminated, from the head of the brigade, Rendor, to other senior figures in the photo. This documentation illustrates Hamas’s use of terrorist infrastructures underneath civilian facilities and further proves the effectiveness of the IDF’s strikes against the organization’s senior figures in the northern Gaza Strip. This is vital documentation that we are providing from the field, in addition to other evidence that we are collecting, further revealing how Hamas established its operational system within the civilian medium, using civilians as human shields. We located and eliminated these senior figures in their underground facilities.
