Legendary comedian Jay Leno has filed legal documents to obtain conservatorship over his wife Mavis Leno’s estate. The move comes after Mavis was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a source with direct knowledge tells TMZ. According to our source, Mavis’ diagnosis is the reason behind Jay seeking conservatorship, as her condition leaves her unable to take care of herself.
Despite Mavis’s condition, the couple was seen together as recently as November, when they were photographed at a comedy event in Los Angeles. The timing of Mavis’s diagnosis is unclear. Jay and Mavis have been together for decades, having tied the knot in 1980. The couple does not have any children, as Mavis made the decision not to, for which she takes full credit. Mavis is 77, four years older than Jay.
