Finally, there seems to be some movement in the controversial case of Rosa Edelmira Pindo Mulla, an Ecuadorian Jehovah’s Witness who was given a blood transfusion against her will.
Reports have surfaced that Mulla has taken Spain to the European Court of Human Rights after being forcibly given a blood transfusion during surgery.
In recently surfaced documents, Mulla claims that she outlined her religious objections to blood transfusions in several pre-surgery forms, and she’s now seeking justice after the life-saving procedure was administered against her will.
Images from the surgery room and of the blood bag used in the transfusion reveal a concerning escalation of the case, which has sparked both controversy and ethical debates in Spain over the past few years.
