An action-packed game featuring two of the NBA’s greatest superstars and rivals playing at their best ended with the Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James, taking a thrilling 145-144 double overtime victory against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors on Saturday at Chase Center in San Francisco.
James closed out the game with an incredible 36-point, 20-rebound, 12-assist triple-double, including two clutch free throws with only one second left on the clock to secure the win. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James’ 20 boards were a career-high for a regular season game in his 21-year career.
Curry put on a show of his own, scoring a game-high 46 points, and nailing a clutch three-pointer to put the Dubs up 144-143 with just 5.2 seconds remaining. Both players were nothing short of awe-inspiring in regulation and overtime.
The game was filled with edge-of-your-seat moments, including Curry’s layup in regulation to force overtime and a game-tying Klay Thompson three-pointer that guaranteed a second overtime. Ultimately, James’ Lakers were able to secure the win, but not without immense effort from Curry and the Warriors.

LeBron James was supported by Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell. Davis finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds, while Russell added 28. On the Warriors’ side, Draymond Green was a key contributor, putting up eight points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Klay Thompson scored 24 points, and Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga added 22 points each.
As the teams navigate a challenging season, this game was a reminder of the talent and entertainment they’re capable of providing. Even with the Lakers hovering around .500 and the Warriors struggling to make their mark this year, fans, analysts, and even NBA legends appreciated the battle between two dominant stars and their teammates.

We just saw two of the all-time greats play superb! LeBron James hit two clutch free throws to seal the game and finished with a 36-20-12 triple double, and my man Steph Curry put on a shooting clinic tonight scoring 46 points in a losing effort.
Lakers-Warriors the new Game of the Year? Man that was something. Curry and LeBron are a combined 74!
Appreciate 39 year old LeBron James & 35 year old Stephen Curry while they’re still in this league!
