Leon Edwards is not concerned about Colby Covington’s trash talk having any impact on him.

Edwards is gearing up to defend his welterweight title in the main event of UFC 296 against Covington, and he is feeling confident about his chances. Despite being the slight betting favorite, Edwards is sure he will come out victorious.
Leading up to the fight, Covington has been dishing out the trash talk, as expected. However, Edwards is not fazed, as he knows that Covington is simply playing a character. He believes the trash talk won’t have any effect on him in the end.
“Not really, I think Colby came out and said it himself, he’s playing a character. It’s easier to take his banter because you know he’s only playing a character, so it’ll be hard to get under my skin,” Edwards said on UFC Live. “There will be a lot more at the presser between Colby, Ian, and other welterweights more than me and Colby. Let’s see how it plays out.”
With his mindset unaffected by Covington’s trash talk, Edwards is looking forward to a potential statement win at UFC 296. He is also eyeing a future fight against the winner of Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title, showcasing his ambition to become a champ-champ.
However, before Edwards can think about a middleweight title shot, he must first focus on getting past Covington in the highly-anticipated main event of UFC 296 in Las Vegas.
