Longtime fans of The Legend of Zelda series may debate about new versus old, but no one can deny that the latest games have breathed new life into the beloved franchise. “Well, I do think we as people have a tendency to want the thing that we don’t currently have, and there’s a bit of a grass is greener mentality,” said producer Eiji Aonuma.
But for those who love the classics, there’s still a place for that nostalgia. Aonuma isn’t shy about sharing his perspective on how he thinks games — and the series — have evolved. “But I do understand that desire that we have for nostalgia, and so I can also understand it from that aspect,” Aonuma says.
