Shocking news out of Ohio as a woman has been arrested and charged with purposefully shooting her infant granddaughter in the face. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they took Mia Desiree Harris, 43, into custody on charges of felonious assault after the horrifying incident. This arrest came after the suspect fled the scene in Liberty Township, but law enforcement was quick to apprehend her.
Sheriff Richard Jones revealed that the shooting occurred after Ms. Harris got into an argument with other relatives, including the baby’s mother. Prosecutors have stated that she shot through a locked bedroom door before targeting the infant, resulting in the child being shot in the eye. The baby has since undergone two surgeries and remains in critical condition as a result of this senseless act of violence.
“It wasn’t an accident. It was on purpose,” Sheriff Jones told Cincinnati Fox affiliate WXIX-TV. “This is one of the most disgusting, vile criminal acts I’ve ever seen, shooting a 6-month-old baby. What makes it even worse is this is the baby’s grandmother.”
Ms. Harris is currently being held on a $1.5 million bond. This case has shocked the community, and the authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served.
