Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu Go Head-to-Head in an Epic Shooting Showdown

Stephen Curry is back to NBA All-Star weekend and this year, he will meet a bold competition from none other than the WNBA 3-point shootout 2021 winner, Sabrina Ionescu. On February 17th, the much-awaited “Stephen vs Sabrina” showdown is set to be part of All-Star Saturday Night in Indianapolis. Both stars are eagerly waiting for the clash, as confirmed by their social media posts.

The showdown, waiting to happen for months, started with a discussion between Curry and his teammates. During a game last Thursday night, Curry expressed to his Warriors’ teammate Brandin Podziemski his desire to challenge Ionescu. Little did he know, Ionescu enthusiastically responded on social media and initiated the challenge by imitating Curry’s famous lights-out pose while holding her trophy at the WNBA All-Star event.

The NBA has made this dreamy showdown possible and will hold it at the NBA All-Star weekend. Curry will shoot from the NBA 3-point line with NBA basketballs, and Ionescu will shoot from the WNBA 3-point line with WNBA basketballs. Not only this, but each shot made by the players will earn a donation for charity. The stakes are high and both stars have a lot to play for, besides pride.

Steve Kerr, the Warriors coach, is excited about the showdown, likening it to the legendary Bobby Riggs versus Billie Jean King from 1973. Wembanyama, the San Antonio rookie and No. 1 overall pick from last year’s NBA draft, was picked for the Rising Stars games and is likely to set the stage on fire with his talent.
